HGMH Auxiliary Donates $50,000 for Digital X-Ray

December 23, 2011

The Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary made its final contribution towards a $50,000 donation to Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital this week towards the purchase of digital x-ray equipment.

Digital x-ray equipment will improve efficiency in the hospital's diagnostic imaging department and the overall patient experience by making x-ray images available for preview immediately and allowing for the digital transfer and enhancement of images. The development of digital x-ray images uses less radiation to produce equivalent images than conventional x-ray imaging and does not require chemical processing of films. This equipment will further allow for cost savings at the hospital in terms of processing, managing, and storing films from traditional x-ray equipment.

"We are grateful to the Auxiliary for their generous support and ongoing contributions toward improving services offered at our hospital," stated Bill Shields, HGMH Board Chair. "The tireless efforts of the Auxiliary volunteers provide immeasurable support to improving quality and patient care at HGMH."

The Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary provides volunteer services to the patients, fundraises, promotes good public relations, and assists the hospital in its attempt to provide quality health care to the community. Volunteers of the Auxiliary also provide services and implement new programmes in the hospital as they are suggested by the hospital administration.
