2022 Staff Awards
On January 26th, the annual Dr. Govan Award of Distinction and Team Award of Excellence were presented through a virtual Town Hall at Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Govan Award of Distinction
The Dr. Govan award is an award that is given to a team member who has demonstrated the qualities of collaboration, care, commitment and to somebody who provides quality services to our community. This is a peer nominated award and recognizes the commitment of the late Dr. Govan who practiced at HGMH for 18 years of his career. This award was created in his memory following his passing in 2013.
The recipient of the 2022 Dr. Govan Award of Distinction is Louise Quenneville, Dietary and Housekeeping Manager.
Louise was nominated for exemplifying compassion and care for not only the HGMH community but for the community at large. “She has contributed so much to our organization over the years including the introduction of a therapeutic garden so patients can enjoy fresh, locally grown vegetables with their meals, volunteering for Christmas Floats, Big Bike for Heart and Stroke Foundation and the many social club activities that have been instrumental in enhancing team and collaboration at HGMH. Louise also brought HGMH to a successful conclusion for the 2022 Accreditation cycle. Louise is very deserving of this honour” Said Robert Allred-Hughes, President & CEO of HGMH.
Team Award of Excellence
The Team Award of Excellence aims to recognize a team that demonstrates exceptional work at HGMH and demonstrated collaborative, caring and committed work in providing quality services to our hospital and our community. This is a peer nominated award.
The 2022 Team Award of Excellence was awarded to the Nursing Team, which includes RNs, RPNs and PSWs.
Kim Woods, Vice President of Patient Care & Chief Nursing Executive said “This team has exemplified strength and perseverance. We have heard far too often this year that we are piecing staffing together, at a time when health care workers are scarce. This team works long hours in the name of supporting quality safe care at HGMH. Despite these challenges, our Nursing Team has been praised by our community and our patients for the exceptional care they receive at HGMH.”
